Vocabulary for Ielts Collins

The Vocabulary for IELTS book and CD cover vocabulary items and skills which are relevant to all four exam papers: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. In each unit, you work towards an exam practice exercise which is modelled on the actual IELTS exam. Each unit contains activities that help you develop, step-by-step, the vocabulary knowledge and skills to help you tackle the exam.

Units - Each unit is divided into three parts.

Part 1: Vocabulary introduces vocabulary related to the topic or function of the unit. Definitions for this vocabulary are presented using C-llins COBUILD full-sentence definitions, and IELTS- style example sentences show how the words are used in context. Parts of speech and the different forms of the words are also listed.

Part 2: Practice exercises provide a structured set of exercises which help youdevelop the skills to successfully apply vocabulary knowledge to the exam. Each unit focuses on developing vocabulary and skills for a particular paper, and the practice exercises provide practice for the particular paper.

Part 3: Exam practice provides exam practice exercises in a format that follows the actual exam giving you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the kinds of questions you will encounter in the exam. This section focuses on a particular exam paper and is highlighted in grey for easy reference.

Exam tips - There are exam tips and strategies in each unit. These are in boxes for easy reference.

Audio script
All audio for the Listening and Speaking paper has been recorded on the CD using native speakers of English. A full audio script is provided at the back of the book so that you can check the language used in the listening and speaking exercises, if needed.

Answer key
A comprehensive answer key is provided for all sections of the book including model answers for more open-ended writing and speaking tasks.

Collocations
At the back of the book, you can further develop your vocabulary by studying the list of the most common collocations for the vocabulary presented in the units.

Giáo trình này chủ yếu tập trung vào việc luyện nghe, kết hợp nghe và nói. Trên thực tế, muốn giao tiếp tốt bằng tiếng Anh thì điều quan trọng nhất là phải nghe nhiều ngay từ lúc mới bắt đầu học. Nhiều nhà ngôn ngữ học khuyên các thí sinh cần dành nhiều thời gian để nghe những mẩu đối thoại có ý nghĩa và có liên quan đến tình huống giao tiếp trước khi học nói tiếng Anh.

 

Vì vậy, giáo trình đã tổng hợp các loại đề thi môn nói thường được ra ở các kỳ thi IELTS trong nhiều năm qua, vận dụng hình thức nghe trước nói sau, xâu chuỗi các tình huống về đề tài thành toàn bộ chương trình học. Khi sử dụng giáo trình này, thí sinh sẽ phát hiện ra rằng mình không chỉ nâng cao kỹ năng nói, luyện thi có hiệu quả mà còn biết nhiều kiến thức văn hóa có liên quan. Đó là sự kết hợp tuyệt vời giữa việc luyện thi và phát triển khả năng ngôn ngữ.

 

Giáo trình gồm 12 bài được biên soạn dựa trên những đề tài đa dạng (bao gồm nhiều phương diện trong giao tiếp xã hội). Các bài này sẽ giúp thí sinh có được kiến thức cơ bản để đạt kết quả cao ở môn nói IELTS, đồng thời giúp thí sinh học tập trong không khí vui vẻ, thoải mái.

Some activities provide the opportunities for speaking and discussion practice. An integral workbook gives extra practice material as well as reinforces key points on language and test-taking skills. An audioscript contains all the textbook and workbook listening material on the CDs. Keys to all textbook and workbook exercises are also included to help you check the answers and monitor your progress.

The material in Essential Listening for IELTS has been carefully selected and arranged in sequential order to facilitate systematic learning and building up your language proficiency as well as your test-taking skills.
